Max Journey is a self-taught visual artist and storyteller based in Virginia. Her work invites people to connect with the playful side of life, where words and images come together in surprising, funny, and delightful ways.

Her creative interests span many mediums and crafts, from oil painting and sketching to ornament making, illustrating, and creating children’s books. A lasting love of dogs, flowers, color, and nature inspires her artwork and the details woven into her creations.

Through her art, books, and original characters, Max explores new ways to share stories and spark imagination in audiences of all ages. Among her creations is Barkley, an original character based on her real-life dog.

Beyond the studio, she enjoys nature walks and movies with her husband, cooking, baking, and volunteering within her yoga community—pastimes that continue to inspire her creativity and connection with others.
